Edinburgh Technopole 2008 Photography Competition
- Are you a photography-loving occupier of Edinburgh Technopole?
- Are you a photographer living in the local area and would like to take part?
- Would you like to have the chance of winning £500 worth of Jessops vouchers or a generous runner up prize?
Then why not take part in Technopole's photography competition...
Edinburgh Technopole comprises of 126 acres of parkland situated within the Bush Estate. At the centre of the park lies Bush House, a former 18th century stately home, which is backdropped by the Pentland Hills. Around the borders of the park, walkers can follow the ‘Woodland Walk', which includes many photogenic opportunities such as the Glen and the South Woods.
The competition will be judged by a selected panel including experienced photographers. The short listed photographs will go on display in a public exhibition in Bush House on Wednesday 20th August, where the winner and runner up will be announced.
An overview of the rules are as follows:
- Only photographs taken within the 126 acres of the Edinburgh Technopole site can be entered.
- Each person can enter up to three images.
- All photographs should be TIFF or JPEG format.
- All entrants may enter up to three prints no larger than A3 in size. These should be accompanied by an entry form and a clearly labelled CD containing their photos, stating the name of the photographer and a contact number. We will not accept photos or entry forms which have been e-mailed. Entrants are welcome to mount their images to display them to best advantage, although this is not a requirement.
- The name of the image file on the disk must contain the photographers' first initial and surname, as well as the image title (as written on the entry form).
- The photographs, entry form and CD must reach the Technopole Centre on or before Thursday 31st July 2008. If you are posting your photographs, please send them to the address below.
- It is accepted that digital photographers often use tools such as Photoshop's Levels, Curves and Clone stamp to improve the appearance of images, and this is acceptable, however entrants should note that the judges anticipate favouring more natural shots over those which have visibly been subjected to significant manipulation.
- The photographs should not infringe any law or be taken in a way that may cause harm to the photographer or others.
- Please note that the winning and running up photographs may be used in future publications and press, and will be kept on the Technopole team's electronic database for this purpose.
